 Involved in gymnastics since 1960, Edward won a silver medal in the 1972 XX Olympic games in Germany. A member of the USSR gymnastics team from 1966 until 1976, he also won a silver medal in the Games of the USSR Nations and a silver medal in the World Games in Varna, Bulgaria in 1974. Edward began his international competitive career in 1967 competing in the "Druzhba" (Friendship Meet) between the countries of the USSR in Cuba, receiving first place among youth.
Edward is a Master of Sport at the International Level. He graduated from the Institute of Physical Culture in 1973 and began coaching gymnastics in 1976. Serving as the coach of the Armenian team (USSR) from 1978 through 1990, Edward led the team to success. Eight of his gymnasts became Master’s of Sport at the International Level, winning 168 gold, 108 silver, and 65 bronze medals. His team competed in England in the World Championships in 1993, and Edward coached the European champion in 1994.
An international class judge since 1977, Edward has been coaching in the United States since 1995. He has coached girl’s team levels 4 through 10 at World Star Gymnastics, Pozar’s Gymnastics, and Miyagi Gymnastics before coming to IGC in 2006. His teams have consistently won prestigious team awards and he has coached numerous highly acclaimed gymnasts to state, regional, and national championships.
